Overview
Wrinkles are usually a “crisis point” for a lot of people, both women and men. The moment the first wrinkles appear on a person’s face, it sets off a realization that the person is indeed aging. And because wrinkles are very visible, especially as the person grows older, many methods are employed to try and hide it. Make-up is a typical solution, but it doesn’t hide it all, and is rather temporary. Other folks use “facelifting devices” that help stretch the skin of the face to eliminate unwanted lines. But these devices are also temporary, and sometimes, make the face look unsightly.
One solution that is making a big impact on the world of cosmetic surgery is Hylaform.
What is Hylaform?
Hylaform is a cosmetic surgery treatment that comes in the form of an injectable hyaluronic acid gel. Produced by Inamed, a leading producer of medical products, it is an FDA-approved substance, and is actually a highly purified form of hyaluronic acid, which is very identical to substances found in the human body. This makes it a natural treatment that has very little allergy risks.
It works by drawing moisture into, and adding volume to the skin. This, in turn, greatly reduces—and even completely removes—the appearance of unwanted facial wrinkles and lines.
A stronger form of Hylaform, Hylaform Plus, is made by the same manufacturer and made from the exact same material as Hylaform. This substance, however, is for a different purpose. While Hylaform is used to remove the finer wrinkles and creases of the face, Hylaform Plus is used to lubricate deeper lines and creases, rehydrating them, and in turn, making them stand out less, helping one achieve lessened wrinkles.
Hylaform application procedure
The procedure starts with an appointment with the surgeon to discuss what the treatment is about, and for the patient to show the areas that need to be treated. The surgeon makes the appropriate notes and measurements, and gives one final assessment of the scope of the treatment, and the cost. Once the patient is agreeable to the conditions, they are then prepared for the treatment.
Mild anesthetic, either topical or local, is used to anesthetize the key points where the injections will take place. Then, using a very fine needle, the Hylaform gel is injected into the dermis, just below the target wrinkles. Once inside, the gel integrates into the dermis, binding water, and lifting the wrinkles out.
Once the whole treatment is finished, the patient is ready to go.
Possible risks, complications, and recovery time
Possible side effects include bruising, swelling, and redness. Mild to moderate pain can also be felt in the injection site, which can last anywhere between 4 days to a whole week. Any swelling will give the impression of asymmetry, but should subside not long after.
Results are immediate, and in best cases, the patient can come out of the clinic, look at the mirror and see that the wrinkles have all but vanished. Its natural material, its quick and less painful nature, and its reasonable cost, make Hylaform injections a good way of dealing with wrinkles.
