Candidates for Breast Lift Surgery
Are you unhappy with your breast appearance? Do you need a larger size, or would you simply like them put back where they belong?
Millions of women suffer from saggy breast syndrome. Breast feeding, weight loss, aging and gravity all take their toll on the delicate breast tissue, stretching the breast and leaving them sagging.
A breast lift could help.
If you have sagging breasts and are done have children, a breast lift may be for you. If you are thinking about having more children or breast feeding, a breast lift surgery is not a good idea until you have finished those activities. This is because the hormone changes during pregnancy and breast feeding will put dramatic strain on a breast lift surgery.
Women will smaller breasts are better candidates for a breast lift then bustier women. This is because larger breasts will pull against the repair, working against the surgery. Talk with your cosmetic surgeon to see if you are a good candidate for a breast lift procedure.
How Does a Breast Lift Help?
A breast lift will improve breast shape and position and may improve your self confidence. A breast lift will not, however, permanently change the shape and firmness of the breast. Gravity still exists, and you may continue to experience the effects of aging. The good news is that a secondary revision surgery can be done to lift the breasts a second time if needed.
It is important to talk with your doctor about your goals and expectations regarding your breast lift. He or she can advise you if your goals are realistic, how long the repair will last, and whether or not a secondary revision may be needed in the future.
How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost?
The cost of a breast lift is dependent on the region it is done in, the surgeon’s fees, facility fees and anesthesia fees. The average cost varies between $3,500 to $7,000. Smaller breasts that require less incisions may cost less than larger breasts. It is important to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon with extensive experience in breast procedures.
Board certification that is designated by the American Board of Medical Specialties is the gold standard of certification. Ask to see before and after photos. Breast lifts are rarely considered anything else other than cosmetic surgery. They are rarely covered by medical insurance.
Add in a Breast Augmentation
A breast lift can be done in conjunction with a breast augmentation if you so choose. Breast augmentation consists of enlarging the breast by surgically inserting a silicone or saline implant under the breast tissue. If breast augmentation is done at the same time as the breast lift, the overall cost of the procedure will be more, but if you are considering doing it, this would be a good time.
