People say the eyes are the window to a person’s soul. While this saying is up for debate, the eyes are definitely windows for many other things, like a person’s age, health, and overall well-being. Dark circles around the eyes indicate stress, and wrinkles and sagging skin are signs of aging. There are surgical procedures to fix these problems, but for those who do not wish to go under the knife, non-surgical eye treatment is the choice for you.
For dark circles, undereye treatments that’re non-surgical include the following:
Blue Light Therapy – Primarily known as an acne treatment, this treatment helps with dark circles under the eyes as well. This is done by increasing cellular activity under the skin, more specifically, increasing the elastin proteins, which is what the skin uses to naturally fight the effects of aging. This increased elastin activity is what will reduce the dark circles under the eyes.
Thermage – This treatment is more commonly used as a non-surgical facelift alternative, which can also be used to as an under eye dark circle treatment. This treatment stimulates collagen to rise from the bottom of the skin to the surface through radio waves, that gently and slowly warm the skin. The collagen that rises to the surface tightens the skin, which reduces the look of having dark eye circles.
Fraxel – Fraxel treatment is similar to Thermage, but instead of using radio waves, Fraxel is an example of what’s known as laser skin resurfacing treatment. Lasers are used to stimulate collagen growth, skin cell production, and skin tightening, which all in all reduce the effects of dark under eye circles.
IPL Photofacial – IPL Photofacial treatment is similar to Fraxel, but this treatment uses intense pulsed light to stimulate collagen growth. It is considered to be the safest light-based treatment for dark under eye circles so far, but might produce less results than Thermage or Fraxel.
Hydroxatone – Hydroxatone AM/PM cream is a topical solution for dark under eye circles. It is primarily used as an alternative to face lift, which removes wrinkles, hydroxatone can also be applied around the dark areas of the eyes, because Hydroxatone also improves any discrepancies in skin tone and radiance.
Hydrolyze – Hydrolize is a topical cream that is specifically designed to reduce the dark circles under the eyes. This cream uses the chemical Haloxyl, which is an effective compound that reduces the discoloration of dark circles by as much as 45%.
Vitamin E treatment – For those who do not wish to spend much to remove dark under eye circles, Vitamin E treatment is a simple process. First, take a vitamin E capsule and extract the powder inside. Place the powder on one palm, and rub it on the area you wish to treat. Let it set for around a minute, and then wipe it off using a mix of egg white and honey. This should reduce the dark under eye circles.
